I would agree with Pritam Singh Grewal and thoroughly recommend 'The Prophet' by Khalil Gibran.
Whilst at school in Dudley I was introduced to this book by my friends and have never forgotten it since. It has been translated into Punjabi by Amrita Pritam and Dr Harbajhan Singh. The original English version is not hard to grasp. Another book that I read about the same time is Gitanjali by Rabindranath Tagore, which is another one of those mystical and metaphysical works that  leave a certain echo in ones's mind.

The Prophet is known as the masterpiece of Lebanon-born (1883-1931) poet, philosopher and artist, Khalil Gibran.
It is an anthology of his spiritually poetic thoughts on Love, Beauty, Friendship, Crime and Punishment, Work, Teaching, Time, Children, Death etc.

The Prophet has been translated in more than twenty languages including Punjabi.
This writer was introduced to Khalil Gibran's works by late S.Sobha Singh artist.

I would like to recommend a great piece of writing by Daniel Quinn to our readers. The book title is 'ISHMAEL'.  This novel gives a lot of food for thought to the striving minds. I am sure once you read this book, it would change the way you look at life. Very powerful writing with a spiritual approach that gives birth to a new awakening.
